Matt Stambaugh grew up in Eastern Kentucky learning firearm repair, stockmaking, and metalwork from his late father and uncle, Harold Stambaugh and Howard Stambaugh, respectively.  After 7 years working for the Kentucky Division of Forestry as a Wildland Firefighter and later Deputy Forest Warden, Matt moved to Alpine Texas to apprentice under APG Master Pistolsmith and STI founder Virgil Tripp.   Matt participated in the design and evolution of tooling to produce Tripp Research's famous Cobramag 2.0 as well as building numerous custom 1911 pistols.  After moving on in 2007, he settled back in Eastern Kentucky and has remained deeply connected to the outdoor and shooting industries.
