hi guys, im a english guy looking onto the experience of americans as you guys know your guns.

My friend recently purchased a Steyr SSG 69, he wants to remove the front and rear iron sight. im told it probably silver soldered on, now im thinking of removing it with some mapp gas and pulling it hard.

iv read about this having a cold forged barrel and am I in danger or ruining this barrel by heating up this ironsight?

Thanks for your guidance.
Regards, Tom.
